Piezo exciters

Precise testing of piezoelectric transducers

Piezoelectric exciters enable highly precise vibration excitation at very high frequencies. They are therefore ideal for challenging testing tasks in research, development and quality assurance.

Thanks to their low weight and high stiffness, they generate stable resonance frequencies and are particularly well-suited to exciting large test specimens. They deliver precise and reproducible results even under extreme conditions, such as during vibration tests in climate chambers. Depending on the application, single- or multi-axis excitation is possible. The piezoelectric ceramic drive enables fast and precise movements within the micrometer range.

What is a piezoelectric exiter?

A piezo exciter, often called a piezo actuator, converts electrical voltage into mechanical motion or vibration. This process is based on the inverse piezoelectric effect. An applied voltage alters the structure of a piezoelectric ceramic, producing a defined deformation. This results in high-frequency, highly precise vibrations with small amplitudes. Piezo actuators differ in various ways, including design, excitation direction (single- or multi-axis), frequency range, and maximum force.

Systems with high structural stiffness can achieve particularly high resonance frequencies and are therefore ideal for precise high-frequency testing.
