Modal exciters are specialized mobile excitation systems designed for testing large structures in the low-frequency range. They are used primarily for the modal analysis of buildings, bridges and other large-scale infrastructure, as well as for fatigue testing and seismic simulations. Using them enables the reliable determination of natural frequencies, damping behavior and structural properties.
Customers worldwide rely on the performance of our APS ELECTRO-SEIS® long-stroke vibration exciters.
The shakers cover a frequency range up to 200 Hz and enable both horizontal and vertical excitation. An extensive range of accessories expands the scope of application and allows for flexible adaptation to different testing tasks.

Why do I need a modal exciter?
A modal exciter is a system designed to apply low-frequency forces to structures in a controlled manner for the purpose of analyzing their dynamic behavior. The excitation is usually electrodynamic and is introduced into the structure while sensors measure the response.
There are differences in the maximum force, the type of excitation and the direction of application (horizontal or vertical). Depending on the application, the extensive range of accessories can either expand the range of uses — for example, by providing higher force through additional reaction masses or enabling localized excitation using stingers — or simplify handling, such as through carrying handles.
