Power amplifier

Power amplifiers are a key component of modern vibration, testing and calibration systems. They amplify the input signal generated by the controller or signal generator, providing the necessary power for the connected exciter.

Power amplifiers are used in calibration systems, environmental test benches and systems for modal testing and sensor characterization. Depending on the application, different amplifiers are available, offering various power, frequency ranges and protection functions. Features such as low harmonic distortion, voltage or current operation, and high stability during temperature and operational fluctuations ensure stable and precise measurements.

Function, operation and types of power amplifiers

In the measurement and test chain, a power amplifier converts low-level input signals into a high-power output signal for the exciter. This enables the shaker to generate defined forces, accelerations, or frequencies. Technically, this is achieved through linear signal amplification with precise control of voltage and current.

Differences lie primarily in the output power, load impedance, frequency range and specific protection functions such as current limiting or overheating protection. The variants range from compact systems to high-power amplifiers for demanding test tasks, such as calibration or characterization.
