New vibration exciter for seismic investigations

SE-13 for heavy devices under test - weighing up to 50 kg

SPEKTRA's latest vibration exciter is ideal for calibrating and investigating sensors used in geophysical investigations or vibration measurements on buildings operating in the low-frequency range. Such sensors are often characterized by their substantial weight and size.

Patented air bearing for friction-free vibration and defined zero position

The SE-13 can excite devices under test weighing up to 50 kilograms while maintaining excellent signal quality. Test specimens can have a diameter of up to 350 mm. To this end, a new air bearing has been developed and patented, allowing for friction-free guidance of the oscillating table while supporting high test specimen masses and holding them in a defined zero position. The specifications of the ISO 16063-11 standard regarding transverse vibrations and harmonic distortions are far exceeded for the calibration of sensors in the 0 Hz to 400 Hz frequency range.

One of the first customers to use the SPEKTRA SE-13 for absolute calibrations of heavy seismic sensors using laser vibrometers as reference transducers is a French state institute. For this purpose, SPEKTRA supplied a complete CS18P VLF primary calibration system, which allows vertical and horizontal excitation of the sensors using the SE-13 and an APS 129 vibration exciter, respectively.
