
Magnetic exciters, also known as magnetic flux generators, enable the precise and reproducible excitation of magnetic fields for testing magnetic sensors and components.
Systems based on Helmholtz coils generate defined, three-dimensional magnetic fields, allowing precise alignment of the magnetic field vector with the sensor axis. High flux homogeneity of ≤1% and Earth's magnetic field compensation of ≤1 µT create stable test conditions for research, development and quality assurance. These systems can also be used in climate chambers to test the effects of magnetic excitation and temperature simultaneously.

What is a magnetic flux generator?
A magnetic exciter generates a defined magnetic field that can be used to test magnetic sensors or electronic components. Helmholtz coils are often used for this purpose; when carrying the same current, two identical coils produce a nearly homogeneous magnetic field at their center.
Three pairs of coils arranged orthogonally are combined for three-dimensional tests, so that magnetic fields can be generated in all spatial directions. Systems differ in terms of the achievable field range, field uniformity, the accuracy of vector alignment, and additional functions such as compensation for the Earth’s magnetic field or integration into climate chambers.
