Modal excitation of large structures
Artificial vibration excitation of buildings and structures
APS shakers (a SPEKTRA brand) can be used to selectively excite larger structures, buildings, or products in order to perform modal or fatigue tests.
For example, reaction masses can be used to transfer vibrations into horizontal surfaces such as floors. The force acting on the structure can be measured with a force transducer or calculated by measuring the acceleration of the moving masses.
