Specified adapters (HU/SP/PSP adapters) can only be purchased from technical test centres, monitoring organizations, internal administrators and approved SP workshops that are authorised to carry out main inspections or safety tests!
A mobile device (notebook, tablet, smartphone) with the corresponding FSD software (VIS.APP) is required for operation and display.
What is the HU adapter?
The HU adapter is a universal testing and measuring device for the main inspection (HU) and safety test (SP) of vehicles. The use of an electronic vehicle interface has been part of the main inspection since 2015. The HU adapter is the central tool for experts and test engineers.
The device enables digital communication with the vehicle electronics and supports numerous test processes: from the brake efficiency test to the analysis of modern headlight systems or high-voltage batteries. The HU adapter is supplemented by the SP adapter for specific safety tests.
To ensure that these test devices function properly, all HU and SP adapters must be checked and calibrated at regular intervals.

Technical questions about the HU adapter Gen II
The HU adapter is a robust, handy and universally applicable testing and measuring device for the main inspection. When used with the VIS.App software application, it enables communication with the vehicle electronics via the electronic vehicle interface as well as the measurement of dynamic driving parameters.
The HU adapter optimizes a number of tests (e.g. the brake efficiency test). It enables for instance the testing of modern headlight systems with adaptive light functions and even of electric or hybrid vehicle bateries.
The SP adapter is also available for safety testing as a robust, handy and universally applicable testing and measuring device.
The HU adapter may only be purchased by technical test centres, monitoring organizations, internal administrators and approved SP workshops that are authorized to carry out main inspections or safety inspections! SPEKTRA is therefore obliged to obtain the relevant authorization from FSD GmbH before selling an HU adapter.

The VIS.App software is required to use the HU adapter Gen II. It supports experts during the main inspection with digital vehicle and test information and enables the use of test procedures via the electronic vehicle interface. The VIS.App is optimized for notebooks, tablets and smartphones.
No, the HU adapter does not require an external power supply. The device is powered by a battery, which is rechargeable via a USB-C, e.g. on a laptop or using an optional plug-in power supply. Alternatively, the adapter can be charged via the OBD cable when connected to the vehicle.
Yes, the device can be updated. Just as the vehicle data is constantly changing, the requirements for the HU adapter may also change and therefore require an update.
Service & support
Even if the HU adapter was developed for everyday workshop use, components may break or wear out over time. During regular calibration, we therefore check the general condition and offer you a spare parts service.
The HU adapter is an essential daily tool for many test engineers and must therefore always be available. To this end, SPEKTRA offers an all-inclusive service package (SA HUA GenII). This ensures an uninterrupted workflow at test centres or, at worst, a minimum interruption. This is guaranteed by providing appropriate hardware, such as loaner devices and spare parts, as well as services such as calibration reminders and express deliveries. The aim is to provide customers with a comprehensive, carefree package offering predictability and cost optimization.
Yes, every 24 months by an accredited calibration laboratory in accordance with traffic bulletin publication (24/2020). SPEKTRA has been operating a laboratory specializing in HU adapters since 2017. Over 4,500 HU/SP adapters (manufacturer-independent) of generation I and II are calibrated and serviced here every year.

The standard warranty for the HU adapter Gen II at SPEKTRA is 12 months after initial delivery.
Scope of delivery and ordering
In addition to the actual device, an OBD cable with lighting, a USB-C cable and quick-start instructions are included as standard on delivery. The adapter and its accessories are shipped in individual cardboard packaging.
A USB-C charging plug is not included in the standard scope of delivery and can be ordered separately.
We try to keep the delivery times for your new HU adapter Gen II as short as possible and therefore aim for approx. 3-4 weeks.
